Concrete Sealing in Boise & Nampa
Bare concrete is porous. It drinks up oil, road salt, and whatever gets spilled on it, and once that is in the slab it does not come out. Sealing closes the surface before that happens.
What sealing actually changes
An unsealed slab is a sponge with a hard face. Every spill wicks in and stains from the inside, which is why scrubbing a stained warehouse floor lightens it a little and then stops. You are cleaning the surface of something that is dirty underneath.
A sealer fills that pore structure. Spills sit on top long enough to be wiped up, dust from the slab itself stops coming off on everything, and the floor takes a scrubber far better because the dirt has nowhere to hide.
In the Treasure Valley the winter argument is the strongest one. Salt and de-icer tracked in off a lot will pit and spall an unsealed slab over a few seasons, and that damage is structural rather than cosmetic.
Preparation is most of the job
Sealer locks in whatever is on the floor when it goes down. Seal over oil and you have a permanent oil stain under a clear coat, so the slab gets scrubbed and degreased first and the bad spots get treated by hand.
Then it has to dry. Concrete holds moisture longer than it looks, and sealing a damp slab traps that water, which turns the finish cloudy and lifts it later.
A floor coming out of construction usually needs more prep than the sealing itself: drywall mud, adhesive and paint all have to come off before anything goes on.
How long it lasts
It depends entirely on traffic. A back storeroom holds up for years. A warehouse aisle with forklift traffic wears through in the lanes and wants attention sooner, usually just in those lanes rather than the whole floor.
