The prep is the whole job

Epoxy fails in exactly one way: it lets go of the concrete. When you see a garage floor peeling up in sheets, that is not bad epoxy. That is epoxy that was rolled onto a slab it could never grip.

Concrete has to be opened up before anything bonds to it. That means mechanical profiling, grinding the surface to a texture the coating can key into, not an acid wash and a hopeful afternoon. Oil has to come out of the slab first, because epoxy will not stick to it and the contamination is invisible once the floor is dry.

Cracks and spalls get filled at this stage too. A coating follows the shape underneath it, so anything you leave shows through, permanently.

This is why an epoxy quote that sounds too cheap usually is. The material is a small part of the cost; the preparation is the rest, and it is the part that decides whether you are looking at this floor in ten years or in two.

Downtime

This is a multi-day service and it cannot be rushed. Grinding, then coating, then cure time before anything walks on it and longer again before a vehicle does. Rushing the cure is how a new floor picks up tyre marks in its first week.
